Assignment
"Create a front end to our newest venture for Heinz and develop all the back-end threads"
CPB (formerly Daddy) launched a campaign for Heinz, which was based on pure love. Two tomato plants grew in parallel, one was encouraged declarations of love on the Internet and the other had to grow in silence. What plant would fare best? Heinz who grow tomatoes with love was just curious about the outcome as everyone else.
Solution
A Flash page shows the plants in separate timelapse which then turns into regular picture updates. Each visitor can submit their own declaration of love that is saved in an XML-queue in the background. As posts are read for the love-soaked plant, the sound of reading aloud are continuously streamed to all on the website. An expanded share-function let visitors spread the campaign on social media.
Technical Specification
Synchronised page
Shoutcast streaming audio, timelapse, queue and counters had to work in sync for a solid experience.
Speech synthesis
CPB built the speech synthesis solution based on a simple reading of the texts using OSX on an iMac.
