Campaign site for Malmö University in 2011 on behalf of Eight. Use your Spotify-playlist and allow an analysis to show what kind of programe suits you best. Use Facebook to join the class and meet potential future classmates and to share and listen to others' playlists. This page is based on an integration with Spotify in C as well as HTML, JavaScript, and Facebook integration.

Assignment

Malmö University conducts an annual campaign that informations potential students about the courses that are available. This year's campaign wanted to use Spotify in any way. Together with Eight a concept was taken forth that resulted in the campaign. The idea was to let one's music decide what education at Malmö University that suits you. Using Facebook to connect to the site you could then choose to join the class that you received as your results. Here you could talk to mentors (people who study the programe), to meet other people who also got the same result as you, and learn more about the education at Malmö University page or directly register for the programe at Studera.nu. The playlist that was used in the analysis are saved in your profile, and other individuals may listen to the playlist in Spotify and rate it. The result of the campaign was a success with more than 25,000 tests and over 40,000 visitors during the campaign period. Malmö University was so pleased with the result that they decided to let the campaign page live on.

Solution

Campaign site built in HTML, JavaScript, with elements of Flash AS3.0 in the analysis animation. The integration with Spotify is made ​​by a C Daemon. A Facebook application was developed to enable the function to join the classes. Through the application a users image and namewere extracted. The analysis was built up by first providing an HTTP or Spotify URI link. From this link all the titles and artist namnes were extraxted. These were then matched against a list that includes a weighting of words,names, etc. that could occur in the title or artist name. Different courses have different words associated with them. The result is a system that in a fun and entertaining way to informs visitors about the courses available at Malmö University. And the best of all, the whole system is dynamically built, which means that one can emphasize other courses in the future.
